📖 Overview

Deep beneath Stormwind City, sealed chambers contain ancient horrors deemed too dangerous to destroy when the city was founded. The runes of warding keeping them bound have been weakening — some believe sabotaged from within. The Stormwind Vault is a custom endgame 5-man released in Patch 1.16 alongside Karazhan Crypt.

The dungeon sits at Dire Maul++ difficulty — a step above standard pre-raid content intended for players already running the basic endgame instances. A unique underwater traversal section in the middle of the dungeon and a final boss with alternating physical and magic immunity phases make it the most mechanically demanding custom 5-man currently available.

Vault Warden Greyhollow

The corrupted head warden. He patrols with two warden adds whose Warden's Authority buff must be removed by killing them before Greyhollow is engaged.
Warden's Call: Empowers adds. Kill both adds first. Mantle Strike: Reduces tank healing received by 30%.

The Sealed Construct

An ancient elemental construct with a Crushing Blow ability requiring a well-geared tank with high defence rating. Hits very hard — one of the dungeon's primary gear checks.
Crushing Blow: Requires high defence rating on tank. Seal Rupture: AoE when a nearby rune is broken.

Arcane Guardian Mk-VII

A corrupted Gnomish magical guardian who places Arcane Bombs on random players. The targeted player must immediately move away from the group before the bomb detonates.
Arcane Bomb: Move away from group immediately when targeted. Arcane Missiles: Fast multi-target ranged damage.

The Unbound Remnant

The dungeon's final boss. He alternates between Void Phase (immune to physical — casters only) and Corporeal Phase (immune to magic — melee only). A stacking debuff in each phase forces timely switches. Call phase changes loudly.
Void Phase: Immune to physical. Casters DPS only. Corporeal Phase: Immune to magic. Melee only. Unraveling: Stacking debuff forces phase switching on a timer.

⚔️ Recommended Classes

The Unbound Remnant fight requires every class to know their role during each phase. Mage keeps AoE ready for Void Phase. Warrior sustains through Corporeal Phase. Priest manages healing through rapid damage spikes on both phases. Pre-assign roles and phase-call responsibilities before pulling the final boss.

💡 Tips & Warnings

⚠️

Unbound Remnant phase call: The stacking debuff in each phase means the group cannot linger. Assign one player to call every phase switch clearly in chat or voice. Groups that miss the call window accumulate fatal stacks within 10 seconds of the switch.

Underwater section: The flooded chamber between the Arcane Guardian and High Warden Thessaly disorients first-time groups. The exit is at the far end of the chamber. Do not swim back the way you came when wiping — find an air pocket, regroup, and continue forward.

Difficulty note: The Stormwind Vault is harder than Dire Maul and most pre-raid content. Come with endgame gear, consumables, and a group that communicates. This is not a dungeon to pug blind on your first clear.
