📖 Overview

Stratholme is the plagued city where Arthas made his defining decision — slaughtering the entire population to prevent the Scourge plague from spreading. The city is now overrun with the undead he created. Two wings: Main Gate (Scourge and undead civilians) and Service Entrance (Scarlet Crusade). Each has its own boss roster and quest objectives.

Turtle WoW adds a critical step in the Karazhan questline chain here, making Stratholme relevant content even for players who have outgeared it. The Baron Rivendare mount (Deathcharger's Reins) drops at approximately 0.8% — dedicated mount hunters run this dungeon hundreds of times.

The Unforgiven

An undead ghost who silences the entire party with Screech of the Unforgiven. Melee focus him during the silence window while casters save instant-cast spells.
Screech of the Unforgiven: Silences all party members. Melee focus. Casters use instant casts only.

Malor the Zealous

A Scarlet fanatic (Service Entrance) who empowers nearby Scarlet NPCs with Battle Cry. Always priority target him before the rest of the pack.
Battle Cry: Buffs nearby Scarlet Crusade members. Kill him first in every pull he appears in.

Balnazzar

Service Entrance final boss — a dreadlord in disguise. He mind controls party members and casts heavy shadow spells. Same danger as Gerstahn in BRD — plan before pulling.
Dominate Mind: Mind controls a party member. PvP trinket or immediate melee break. Mind Blast: Heavy shadow damage on tank.

Baron Rivendare

Main Gate final boss. Surrounded by four deathknight adds whose Unholy Aura buffs him. Kill all four adds before engaging Rivendare. He hits hard and his loot table includes the Deathcharger's Reins.

⚔️ Recommended Classes

Paladin is exceptional in Stratholme — Undead-targeting abilities, Holy damage, and Consecration all perform strongly in the Main Gate. Priest Shackle Undead is outstanding crowd control for the large undead packs. Balnazzar's mind control requires the same preparation as BRD's Gerstahn.

Rivendare adds first: The four deathknight adds surrounding Baron Rivendare must all die before engaging him. Their Unholy Aura buff makes him dramatically harder. Clear all four methodically then burn the Baron.

Balnazzar mind control: Same as BRD Gerstahn — a controlled healer wipes the group in seconds. Equip PvP trinkets. Assign a melee player to immediately interrupt any controlled ally. Discuss before pulling every time.

Karazhan questline: If any group member is on the Karazhan questline, Stratholme contains a required step. Check quest logs before entering and ensure the correct objective is in the log.
