Is OctoWoW the
new Turtle WoW?

It restores much of the same Vanilla+ world, but it should be treated as a separate live project.

Verdict

A practical successor—not a continuation you should assume is identical

OctoWoW is compelling to former Turtle WoW players because it restores Mysteries of Azeroth material on a 1.18.1 client: custom zones, dungeons, races, professions and class changes. Its public roadmap names restored locations including Frostmane Hollow, Windhorn Canyon, Dragonmaw Retreat, Grim Reaches and Moonwhisper Coast.

That does not make every mechanic, account, community rule or future decision interchangeable. Use OctoWoW's own announcements as the authority for its live service.

Can an old Turtle WoW guide still help?

Often, yes—but use it as a starting point rather than proof. OctoWoW restores many familiar locations and systems, while quest steps, coordinates, item values and scripts may differ in the live version.

Follow a legacy guide only when it is marked “Checked on OctoWoW”. Otherwise, treat its route as a useful lead and confirm the details in game.

Is OctoWoW literally Turtle WoW?

No. Calling it “the new Turtle WoW” describes the familiar content and Vanilla+ direction, not official ownership or guaranteed continuity.

Think of OctoWoW as a separate Vanilla+ project restoring much of the Mysteries of Azeroth experience former Turtle WoW players remember.
