Gryan Stoutmantle at Sentinel Hill after advancing the People's Militia story.
The Defias Brotherhood step-by-step route
Finish the Westfall setup
Advance the Defias and People's Militia quests until Gryan trusts you with the wider investigation.
Find Wiley in Lakeshire
Travel to the Lakeshire inn in Redridge. Take the flight path so the later handoff is not another full road journey.
Return with the information
The chain moves between Gryan and Stormwind contacts. Batch training, auction and class errands during the capital visit.
Prepare the Deadmines step
The final investigation identifies Edwin VanCleef and leads to the dungeon. Collect every other Deadmines quest before travelling to Moonbrook.
Before you start
- People's Militia progress
- Westfall and Redridge flight paths
- A five-player Deadmines group for the conclusion
Keep unique quest items until the complete chain is turned in. If a step appears unavailable, check faction, minimum level and the previous NPC rather than assuming the guide belongs to a different version.
Why this chain is worth completing
This is the narrative spine of Westfall and unlocks the signature VanCleef objective and an important Alliance dungeon reward.
Common mistakes
- Starting the chain too early and forcing orange Redridge steps.
- Returning to Westfall after every handoff instead of using flight paths.
- Entering The Deadmines before collecting the rest of its quest bundle.
The Defias Brotherhood FAQ
Is this guide for official Classic Era?
Yes. It excludes Turtle WoW custom content, Season of Discovery changes and later-expansion quest revisions.
What if the starting NPC has no quest?
Check the listed faction and level, then trace the previous prerequisite. Dungeon and attunement chains commonly hide behind an earlier capital or zone handoff.
Can I complete it solo?
Ordinary travel and collection stages often can be soloed. Elite, dungeon, escort and raid steps should be treated as group content at the intended level.
