Scarlet Monastery: Cathedral

Recommended levels, location and preparation for an ordinary Scarlet Monastery: Cathedral group—not a boosted carry.

The short recommendation

Cathedral is the highest Scarlet Monastery wing, requires key access and contains a densely packed courtyard. Clear far more space than you think you need before Mograine; Whitemane joins through a scripted resurrection sequence and turns the finale into a two-boss fight.

Choose the run before inviting

Standard Cathedral

Methodical courtyard clear → Cathedral interior → Mograine/Whitemane.

Fairbanks check

High Inquisitor Fairbanks is hidden in a side room and is optional.

Faction capstone

This wing completes Mograine and Whitemane objectives for the major Alliance/Horde chains.

Before travelling

  1. Confirm Scarlet Key or adequate Lockpicking before travel.
  2. Bring strong humanoid control and interrupts for healers.
  3. Clear the cathedral doorway and nearby courtyard before the final pull.
  4. Agree whether Fairbanks is included.
Version warning: official Classic Era only. Turtle WoW, seasonal and later-expansion layouts are excluded.

Quest pickup checklist

These are the key Classic Era quests to check before travelling. “Both” means the quest is available to both factions—not that reaching the dungeon is equally convenient.

Role checklist

Tank

Control the route

Mark dangerous targets, use line-of-sight and pause before events. Protect the healer before chasing damage.

Healer

Call your mana

Drink before scripted waves, prioritise dispels and stop impatient pulls while resources are low.

Damage

Interrupt and control

Respect marked targets, stop dangerous casts and prevent runners from collecting another pack.

Common wipe and wasted-time risks

  • Body-pulling multiple courtyard packs.
  • Starting Mograine with trash alive near the doorway.
  • Spending every cooldown before Whitemane resurrects him.
  • Entering without the key.
