Maraudon

Recommended levels, location and preparation for an ordinary Maraudon group—not a boosted carry.

The short recommendation

Maraudon has two outer wings—Purple and Orange—that join into the inner falls and Princess route. A Scepter of Celebras lets a group teleport directly to Earth Song Falls for inner runs. Advertise the colour and endpoint; ‘Mara full’ is a much longer commitment than ‘Princess run’.

Choose the run before inviting

Purple / Wicked Grotto

Lord Vyletongue and Noxxion side; collect one half of the Celebrian Rod progression.

Orange / Foulspore

Razorlash and Landslide route; other outer objectives and Khan locations.

Inner / Princess

Celebras → Landslide if approached → Tinkerer Gizlock → Rotgrip → Princess Theradras.

Scepter run

Complete Legends of Maraudon, defeat Celebras and create the Scepter for future Earth Song Falls teleports.

Group-finder wording: use the exact route, required key or shortcut, and final boss. Clear expectations prevent more failed Classic groups than an extra level of gear.

Before travelling

  1. Collect all neutral or faction versions in Desolace before entering the cave network.
  2. The Pariah's Instructions objectives include pre-instance cave areas and multiple Khans.
  3. Say whether a player has the Scepter of Celebras for a Princess shortcut.
  4. Bring poison removal and enough time if combining both colours.
Version warning: this guide is for official Classic Era. Seasonal, Turtle WoW and later-expansion layouts or quest changes are intentionally excluded.

Quest pickup checklist

Classic dungeon quests often begin several zones or chain steps away. Check these before the group travels; the note tells you when a prerequisite matters.

Boss and event warnings

EncounterWhat the group must know
NoxxionControl multiple elementals during the split phase and remove poison.
Lord VyletongueClear satyrs around the room and control adds before boss damage.
Celebras the CursedKill the boss, then protect Celebras during the Scepter ritual.
LandslideHandle spawned adds and avoid allowing the healer to be surrounded.
RotgripFight with awareness of underwater positioning and breath.
Princess TheradrasSpread for knockback, keep the healer at safe range and avoid being thrown into patrols.

Notable reasons to run it

  • Blackstone Ring — Princess Theradras; physical hit ring
  • Thrash Blade — Corruption of Earth and Seed quest reward
  • Mark of the Chosen — The Pariah's Instructions reward
  • Princess Theradras' Scepter — Princess Theradras
  • Blade of Eternal Darkness — Princess; very rare caster dagger
  • Satyr's Lash — Lord Vyletongue

Loot tables are broad and drop chances vary. Treat this as a target shortlist, not a promise that every item is best for every spec or phase.

Role checklist

Tank

Own the route

Mark dangerous targets, use line-of-sight, watch patrols and pause before scripted events. State when a pull depends on crowd control.

Healer

Plan the recovery

Drink before events, call for dispels and tell the group when mana is not ready. Do not let an impatient pull conceal the real cause of a wipe.

Damage

Control beats padding

Interrupt, dispel, protect the healer and respect marked crowd control. A dead dangerous caster improves the run more than area damage on harmless targets.

Common wipe and wasted-time risks

  • Entering the wrong coloured portal or cave branch.
  • Advertising Princess without confirming Scepter access.
  • Skipping outer objectives needed for the Scepter chain.
  • Knockback at Princess throwing players into uncleared enemies.
  • Treating the long pre-instance caves as part of a quick run.
