
The short recommendation
ZF is a quest-dense outdoor dungeon built around several optional wings, the famous staircase event and the summonable Gahz’rilla. Bring the Mallet of Zul’Farrak if Gahz’rilla is planned, and agree whether the group will free the prisoners before anyone opens the cages.

Full quest circuit
Antu’sul → Theka → Zum’rah → staircase/prisoners → Nekrum/Sezz’ziz → Gahz’rilla → Chief Ukorz.
Staircase event
Free Sergeant Bly’s group, survive waves on the pyramid, then handle the NPC outcome and remaining bosses.
Gahz’rilla
Requires the Mallet of Zul’Farrak created through the Hinterlands chain; confirm a carrier before forming.
Before travelling
- Collect Gadgetzan, Steamwheedle, faction and Hinterlands chains before the run.
- Confirm someone has the Mallet for Gahz’rilla.
- State whether the group needs prisoner, tablet, scarab or troll-temper objectives.
- Do not open cages until everyone is present and ready.

Control the route
Mark dangerous targets, use line-of-sight and pause before events. Protect the healer before chasing damage.
Call your mana
Drink before scripted waves, prioritise dispels and stop impatient pulls while resources are low.
Interrupt and control
Respect marked targets, stop dangerous casts and prevent runners from collecting another pack.
Common wipe and wasted-time risks
- Forming for Gahz’rilla without a Mallet.
- Opening prisoner cages before the group is ready.
- Jumping from the pyramid and triggering extra enemies.
- Fighting Zum’rah while activating too many graves.
