Wailing Caverns

Recommended levels, location and preparation for an ordinary Wailing Caverns group—not a boosted carry.

The short recommendation

Wailing Caverns has a confusing pre-instance cave, four Leaders of the Fang and a final escort event that only becomes available after all four are dead. A complete quest run is much longer than the boss count suggests; tell the group whether Mutanus is included.

Full Fang route

Lady Anacondra → Lord Cobrahn → Lord Pythas → Lord Serpentis, with Kresh, Skum and Verdan along the circuit.

Final event

Return to Disciple of Naralex near the entrance after all four Fang leaders die; protect him through the escort to Mutanus.

Cave quests

Nalpak and Ebru are in the upper cave above the instance, while several objectives also occur before the portal.

Before travelling

  1. Find the upper-cave quest givers before entering instead of assuming they are inside the portal.
  2. Collect Serpentbloom through the run and keep enough bag slots for hides and quest items.
  3. Agree to a full Mutanus clear; players leaving after Verdan can block the final quest.
  4. Bring poison removal and crowd control for Druids of the Fang.
Version warning: official Classic Era only. Turtle WoW, seasonal and later-expansion layouts are excluded.

Quest pickup checklist

These are the key Classic Era quests to check before travelling. “Both” means the quest is available to both factions—not that reaching the dungeon is equally convenient.

Role checklist

Tank

Control the route

Mark dangerous targets, use line-of-sight and pause before events. Protect the healer before chasing damage.

Healer

Call your mana

Drink before scripted waves, prioritise dispels and stop impatient pulls while resources are low.

Damage

Interrupt and control

Respect marked targets, stop dangerous casts and prevent runners from collecting another pack.

Common wipe and wasted-time risks

  • Getting lost in the cave before the instance.
  • Missing one Leader of the Fang and discovering it at the escort.
  • Starting the Naralex event while players are drinking or absent.
  • Jumping down and making backtracking impossible.
