โœ… First Things To Do at Level 60

Hitting 60 is the beginning of a different game, not the end. The sequence below is what the community broadly recommends for new level 60s โ€” ordered by impact and urgency. Don't try to do it all at once.

1
Join the /world channel Do immediately
Type /join world in-game. This is the main cross-server community channel where raid PUGs are announced, dungeon groups form, trade happens and community discussion lives. You will not find groups without this. It's the first thing every veteran player tells new 60s to do.
2
Install AtlasLoot Do this week
AtlasLoot is available in the Turtle WoW launcher. It shows every dungeon and raid's loot table and which boss drops what โ€” including all custom dungeon loot. Without it you're farming blind. The Turtle WoW database at database.turtlecraft.gg is the other essential tool โ€” use it to search any item and filter by source.
3
Set your gear goal using TurtleLootline Do this week
turtlelootline.com is a gear planner and BiS list built specifically for Turtle WoW โ€” covering all 9 classes, all custom dungeon loot, and all raids including the custom ones. Plan your pre-raid BiS and see exactly which dungeons you need to run for each slot. This is the closest thing to a personal spreadsheet you'll get without actually building one.
4
Max your professions Gold impact
If you have gathering professions, endgame is when they pay off. Black Lotus spawns in Tel'Abim, Hyjal and the usual vanilla zones โ€” worth serious gold. Thorium ore circuits in Un'Goro and Winterspring are consistent earners. Get these maxed before focusing on gear farming so you can afford enchants, consumables and repairs.
5
Start reputation grinds you care about Ongoing
Several reputations have pre-raid BiS or near-BiS gear as rewards. Silvermoon Remnants (Alliance) has excellent pre-raid blues for multiple classes. Argent Dawn rewards are useful for most characters. Alterac Valley exalted gives class-specific gear for multiple specs. Start these early โ€” they take significant time.
6
Find a guild or regular group Community
Turtle WoW's community is genuinely friendlier than most vanilla servers about taking newcomers. The forum thread advice: find a "preferably non-elitist raiding guild." Most MC and Kara10 PUGs will take players with decent blues โ€” you don't need full pre-raid BiS to start raiding. Use /world to find PUGs and introduce yourself.
7
Get your attunements sorted Before raiding
At 60 it can be overwhelming to get attuned to all raids and dungeons. Speedz1337's Attunements Guide on the forum (updated for Patch 1.18) is the definitive cheat sheet. Soft attunements are keys that let others open the door for you โ€” hard attunements require you to complete the quest yourself. Start UBRS attunement early as it feeds into MC and BWL.
8
Dual spec at level 30+ for 350 gold Quality of life
The Goblin Brainwashing Device allows dual spec โ€” available at level 30 for 350 gold, or level 10 from the donation store. If you plan to do both raiding and PvP (or tank and DPS), this is one of the best gold spends in the game. Get it before you start seriously raiding.

โš”๏ธ Raid Progression โ€” The Full Picture

Turtle WoW has vanilla's full raid ladder running alongside a completely parallel custom raid track. You don't have to choose one or the other โ€” they overlap at the same gear level. The custom raids are tuned to fit between vanilla tiers so there's always something new to run regardless of where you are in progression.

๐Ÿ’ก

Community consensus on gear requirements: Most MC and ZG/AQ20 PUGs will take players with decent pre-raid blues. BWL gets pickier โ€” full pre-raid BiS expected by most guilds. AQ40 and Naxxramas require proper preparation. The custom raids (Kara10, Emerald Sanctum) generally follow the same progression expectations as their vanilla equivalents.

Step
Pre-Raid
5-Man Dungeons
BRD, Stratholme, Scholomance, Dire Maul โ€” plus Hateforge Quarry and Black Morass for Turtle WoW unique drops. Target specific slots from TurtleLootline. Hateforge has a rare hit-rating trinket that Warriors want.
UBRS
Upper Blackrock Spire โ€” 10-man, Tier 0 set pieces, and the gateway attunement to Molten Core. Run this repeatedly for pre-raid gear.
Reputation Gear
Silvermoon Remnants (Alliance) โ€” revered rewards excellent pre-raid blues. Argent Dawn helm/enchants. Alterac Valley exalted for spec-specific gear.
Tier
Tier 1
Molten Core 40
Ragnaros. Tier 1 Dungeon Set. Sulfuron Hammer crafting chain. MC gear is purchasable for gold in Turtle WoW โ€” unique catch-up mechanic. Most PUGs take well-geared blues.
UBRS key required for attunement
Onyxia's Lair 40
The single boss dragon raid. Onyxia-scale cloak. The attunement questline is long and faction-specific โ€” start it early. Onyxia Head turn-in buffs the entire server for 2 hours.
Zul'Gurub 20
Hakkar the Soulflayer. Bijou/coin reputation for Zandalar. Swift Zulian Tiger chance. Good entry-level raid for small guilds. ZG resets every 3 days.
Custom
๐Ÿข Kara
Lower Karazhan Halls 10
Turtle WoW's 10-man custom raid. Tier 1 gear level equivalent. The Dark Reaver of Karazhan world boss must be killed to open access. Moroes as key NPC. Great for guilds that can't field 40 players yet.
Dark Reaver of Karazhan world boss must be killed first
Tier
Tier 2
Blackwing Lair 40
Nefarian. Tier 2 gear. The gear check raid โ€” guilds get serious here. Chromatically-attuned drakes, suppression room, Vael the guild-killer. Gear requirements enforced more strictly.
Attunement via quest from UBRS
Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj AQ20 20
Ossirian the Unscarred. Qiraji items and idols. Good alt raid and relaxed progression. Runs alongside AQ40 for guilds farming the tier.
Custom
๐Ÿข Concavius
Concavius 20
Turtle WoW's 20-man custom raid in Desolace. Tier 2 equivalent gear. The Twilight's Hammer vs Burning Legion conflict. New original boss mechanics.
Tier
Tier 2.5
Temple of Ahn'Qiraj AQ40 40
C'Thun. One of vanilla's hardest progression raids. Tier 2.5 gear. Requires a full 40-player organisation and coordination. The opening of the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj is a server-wide event.
Custom
๐Ÿข Emerald
Emerald Sanctum 40
Turtle WoW's 40-man custom raid in Mount Hyjal. BWL-level gear tuning. The Corrupted Wakener and Emerald Dream corruption mechanic. The community notes this is "where gear is taken more seriously, especially for hard mode."
Tower of Karazhan 40
The 40-man Karazhan raid. Infinite Dragonflight interference. Protect the timeline. Custom boss mechanics throughout the spire.
Tier
Tier 3
Naxxramas 40
Kel'thuzad. The pinnacle of vanilla raiding. Four wings, dozens of bosses, Tier 3 Dreadnaught/Dreamwalker gear. The Nerubian Overseer world boss in Eastern Plaguelands (Tier 2.5 level) drops the unique Nerubling companion pet.
Argent Dawn reputation attunement required

๐ŸŽ’ Pre-Raid BiS โ€” How to Approach It

Pre-raid BiS (best in slot) in Turtle WoW is more complex than Classic WoW because the custom dungeons add new loot sources to every slot. A vanilla BiS guide won't account for Hateforge Quarry trinkets, Karazhan Crypt rings or Gilneas City weapons.

The community's recommended tools:

๐Ÿ’ก

The honest reality: You don't need full pre-raid BiS to start raiding on Turtle WoW. "People are usually chill gear-wise until BWL. If you have some purples or even only decent blues, most MC runs would take you." Run ZG, AQ20 and Kara10 early โ€” raid gear is typically better than anything you get from dungeons anyway.

These are the pieces the community consistently highlights that you won't find in any vanilla BiS guide:

๐ŸŽ–๏ธ Key Reputation Factions at 60

Reputation grinds are a significant part of Turtle WoW endgame. Several factions have gear, enchants or quality-of-life rewards that are worth grinding for. These are the ones that matter most.

Argent Dawn Priority
Helm enchants (Falcon/Boar/Mongoose), exalted trinket, Naxxramas attunement, shoulder inscriptions. Essential for every raiding character. The Naxxramas key alone makes this mandatory for progression players.
How: EPL/WPL questing, Stratholme/Scholomance runs with AD insignia equipped, Scourgestones from undead mobs
Silvermoon Remnants (Alliance) Alliance Only
Revered: exceptional pre-raid blue items for Warriors, Paladins and other classes. One of the strongest non-dungeon gearing paths for Alliance at 60. Turtle WoW exclusive faction.
How: Runecloth donations at the faction quartermaster. Takes time but purely solo-able.
Alterac Valley Priority
Exalted rewards class-specific gear for multiple specs โ€” Don Rodrigo's Band (magic resist reduction ring), various weapons and offpieces. Marks of Honor from AV wins/losses are the currency.
How: AV battleground โ€” 3 marks per win, 1 per loss. Queue via battlemaster in capital cities.
Zandalar Tribe
ZG enchants (head/leg), mounts, class-specific BiS trinkets and idols. Zandalar armor tokens from ZG bosses are the main source of rep beyond friendly.
How: ZG raid โ€” turn in Bijous and Coins at Yojamba Isle. Exalted rewards the Swift Razzashi Raptor mount (Horde) and other class items.
Timbermaw Hold
Enchanting recipes (Agility, Strength to gloves), Leatherworking recipes, quivers and bags for non-combat professions. Useful for Enchanters seeking specific recipes.
How: Kill Deadwood Furbolgs in Felwood and Winterspring. Turn in feathers at the Timbermaw Hold tunnels.
Cenarion Circle
AQ gear and recipes, nature resistance gear for AQ40, Silithus questing rewards. Required for the AQ war effort and accessing AQ40 content.
How: Silithus questing, AQ20/AQ40 runs, Encrypted Twilight Texts from Silithus mobs.
Durotar Labor Union (Horde)
Exalted rewards the Rocket Car mount for non-Goblin characters. Engineering-related quests and rewards. Unique to Turtle WoW.
How: Engineering material quests from Vanessa Clang. Repeatable but time-consuming.
Warsong Gulch / Arathi Basin
PvP gear rewards at various rep levels. Marks of Honor spent on class-specific items. Best-in-slot for some PvP specs before Naxx.
How: WSG and AB battlegrounds โ€” marks accumulate from wins and losses. Sunnyglade Valley on Turtle WoW is an additional BG with double honor/rep during Weekend events.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Gold Farming โ€” The Best Methods at 60

Gold matters at 60. Enchants, consumables, repairs, crafted gear and the 350g dual spec all add up quickly. Here are the methods the community consistently recommends, ordered by return per hour.

Method Est. Gold/hr Consistency Notes
Black Lotus Hunting
40โ€“80g
High value, low consistency โ€” spawn-dependent and competitive. Turtle WoW bonus: Black Lotus now spawns in Tel'Abim and Hyjal, less contested than vanilla zones.
Thorium Circuit (Un'Goro / Winterspring)
20โ€“35g
Run a fixed circuit of Rich Thorium Veins. Very consistent if you find a quiet server time. Stack with skinning if you have it.
Dreamfoil / Plaguebloom Farming
15โ€“30g
Flask and potion materials. Consistent demand from raiders. Druid cat form speed makes this significantly faster than other classes.
Alchemy โ€” Raid Consumables
15โ€“25g profit
Flask of Supreme Power, Elixir of the Mongoose, Mageblood Potion. Buy herbs, produce flasks, sell on AH. Every raider needs these โ€” demand never drops. Use Aux addon to track AH prices efficiently.
Enchanting Services
Variable
Crusader, Fiery Weapon, Agility enchants command tips in /world. Announce your services regularly. Endgame enchants (Naxx-level) can fetch 20-50g in tips once you have the recipe.
Stratholme โ€” Righteous Orbs
10โ€“20g
Righteous Orbs drop from Scarlet Crusade undead โ€” used for Crusader enchant. Low drop rate but extremely high value. Run with a Paladin for AoE efficiency.
Un'Goro โ€” Devilsaur Leather
10โ€“18g
Devilsaur Gauntlets and Leggings are pre-BiS for many physical DPS. Skinners should run Un'Goro killing Devilsaurs โ€” the leather is highly sought for Leatherworking crafts.
LBRS/Scholo/Strat Farming
8โ€“15g
Consistent vendor gold plus cloth, greens to disenchant/vendor. Good for classes that can solo or duo these efficiently. Baron mount is a bonus lottery ticket.

๐ŸŽฎ The Challenge Glyph System

Glyphs are one of Turtle WoW's most distinctive features โ€” voluntary self-imposed challenges that fundamentally change how you experience the game in exchange for exclusive rewards. They're selected at character creation from the Glyph Master NPC and cannot be changed later. You can stack multiple glyphs for compounding difficulty and rewards.

โš ๏ธ

Important: All challenges end at level 60 โ€” except Hardcore, which can continue as the Inferno Challenge post-60 if you choose to. Every challenge must be selected at level 1. You cannot add glyphs to an existing character.

๐Ÿ’€ Hardcore (Soul of Iron)
Hard
Level 1-60 without dying even once. Death = character deleted. Every 10 levels the server announces your progress and sends a care package. PvP and raids are safe at 60 โ€” the risk ends when you hit max level.
Post-60, you can choose the Inferno Challenge to stay mortal indefinitely via a questchain.
Title: "The Immortal" + 2 unique mounts + final care package at 60
๐Ÿ— Boaring Adventure
Extreme
Experience comes exclusively from killing boars. Every other mob gives zero XP. Route: Dun Morogh/Westfall boars โ†’ Razorfen Kraul โ†’ Hillsbrad/Arathi โ†’ Blasted Lands โ†’ Eastern Plaguelands. A dedicated in-game Boaring channel exists for coordination.
Community note: "There is a huge gap in farmable boars between levels 20-28 and 36-46" โ€” the dungeon sections are unavoidable.
Title: "The Hambringer" + unique boar mount
๐Ÿข Slow & Steady
Medium
Creature kill XP reduced to 0.5x rates. Quest XP unchanged โ€” completing objectives is still fastest. Die and lose 5% of your current level's XP (not in battlegrounds). Every 10 levels: care package with Fashion Coins, pets, mounts and exclusive items.
Community favourite for completionists โ€” the reduced pace rewards exploring every zone fully. Pairs well with the XP toggle system.
Every 10 levels: care packages. Level 60: Admiral Grumbleshell mount (added Patch 1.18) + Turtle Shell Pauldrons transmog
๐Ÿงณ Vagrant's Endeavor
Hard
Wear only white (common) or grey (poor) quality gear until level 60. Enchanting items is not allowed. No drops, no quest rewards โ€” white vendor gear and crafted whites only.
Combined with Artisan's Quest this is arguably the hardest solo challenge on the server โ€” you're limited to crafted white gear only, which has huge gaps at mid levels.
Title: "The Wanderer" + a mule mount
โš’๏ธ Artisan's Quest
Hard
Use only equipment you craft yourself. No drops, no purchases, no quest gear. Your profession choices at level 1 determine your entire gearing path to 60.
Requires planning your professions carefully at character creation. Popular pairing: Blacksmithing for plate wearers, Leatherworking for leather/mail.
Unique title and completion rewards
โš”๏ธ War Mode
Easy
PvP flagged permanently โ€” cannot disable until 60. Grants increased XP from all sources. Community is honest: "Warmode giving +30% XP is a really good reward โ€” too good. It leads to people who don't want PvP flagging themselves just to level faster."
If you actually enjoy world PvP, this is a fun addition. If you don't, the XP bonus isn't worth being ganked regularly.
Bonus XP throughout 1-60. No mount/title reward.
๐Ÿ˜ด Glyph of Exhaustion
Minor
No rested XP ever โ€” tent parties and inns provide no benefit. In exchange, weapon skill gain is doubled.
Community consensus: "It's just bad." Doubled weapon skill is nearly useless for most classes. Only take this as an intentional handicap or stacked with other challenges for maximum difficulty.
No notable reward. Purely a restriction.
๐Ÿ† The Five Glyph Challenge
Legendary
Stack all five major challenges simultaneously: Hardcore + Boaring Adventure + Vagrant's Endeavor + Slow & Steady + War Mode. Permadeath, boar-only XP, white gear only, half mob XP, and permanent PvP flag โ€” all at once.
A dedicated Boaring channel exists in-game for the small community attempting this. Players have reached the mid-50s this way. The server celebrates successful completions.
All five challenge rewards + legendary community status

๐Ÿ‘— Transmog, Fashion Coins & Cosmetics

Turtle WoW has a full transmogrification system โ€” a feature from retail WoW Cataclysm brought into the vanilla experience. It works differently here than you might expect from retail.

๐Ÿ’ก

Transmog tip: Many players run old low-level dungeons specifically for transmog appearances. The Slow & Steady glyph is particularly popular with transmog collectors because you spend more time in each level bracket and accumulate more Fashion Coins along the way.

โš”๏ธ PvP at Level 60

Turtle WoW's PvP scene is smaller than its PvE scene but active. The server is PvE by default โ€” you have to flag yourself or enter a battleground to engage in PvP. For dedicated PvP players, the options are:

"The best part of vanilla and Turtle especially is leveling. The custom zones and dungeons are just amazing. Don't rush to 60, enjoy it! The Slow and Steady glyph at level 1 has been recommended and I second that."

โ€” Alternative gearing path thread, Forum Mar 2024

"There is only one correct answer. Do whatever you like and enjoy. It is a game after all. Find a preferably non-elitist raiding guild, make friends, run 5 mans, talk with class leads and find out what gear and spec aligns with your play style. Then continue to grow and move along that path."
